Compass Mode
Compass Mode: Clear, Confident, Collaborative.
- Definition: The worker is self-directed, motivated, and proactive in navigating RTW.
- RTW View: Generally feels they can RTW while recovering, and Recover while returning to work.
- Characteristics:
- High sense of control (confidence in their ability to influence outcomes).
- Good understanding of their situation
- Good understanding of the process and where they are in it
- Good sense that they can manage things (i.e. their pain, the process, returning to work, communicating others)
- Clear RTW goal and actively problem-solving.
- Clearly established meaningfulness (i.e. want and/or need) to work and/or RTW.
- Seeks collaboration with stakeholders.
- High sense of control (confidence in their ability to influence outcomes).
- Key Strategy: Support and reinforce an environment that helps keep them in Compass Mode.
